National Network of Regional Coastal Monitoring Programmes
Note that these are real-time data and are not quality-controlled. Long-range graphs are plotted from a randomised subsample of half-hourly data.

These wave data have undergone full quality control. Poor data is flagged, not removed. A summary of the flagging system is included in the table below.
Full details of the flagging and quality control procedures can be found in the Quality Assurance and Quality Control of Waves Data handbook.

Flag | Suspect Parameters | Not Suspect Parameters | Description |
---|---|---|---|
0 | Hs, Tz, Tp, Direction, Spread, SST | All data pass | |
1 | Hs, Tz, Tp, Direction, Spread | SST | Either Hs or Tz fail, so all data fail, except SST |
2 | Tp, Direction, Spread | Hs, Tz, SST | Tp fail + derivatives |
3 | Direction, Spread | Tp, Hs, Tz, SST | Direction fail + derivatives |
4 | Spread | Direction, Tp, Hs, Tz, SST | Spread fail |
5 | Not used | ||
6 | Direction, Spread | Hs, Tz, Tp, SST | Re-processed due to breaking waves |
7 | Hs, Tz, Tp, Direction, Spread, SST | Buoy off location | |
8 | SST | Hs, Tz, Tp, Direction, Spread | SST fail |
9 | Hs, Tz, Tp, Direction, Spread, SST | Missing data |
Be aware that these data have not undergone any quality control. For standard engineering practise please use the full quality-controlled data available for download from the QC Data tab.
These wave files contain the full range of parameters available from a Datawell DWR MkIII wave buoy and an additional two wave parameters Energy Period (Te) and Wave Power (P).
A description of each of the wave parameters provided is available in the Wave Parameter Handbook on the Resources Page.
