Wave parameters are recorded using a Datawell Directional WaveRider Mk III buoy. The buoy was deployed on 22 January 2008, at which time the magnetic declination at the site was 1.8° west, changing by 0.14° east per year. Wave direction is reported following the nautical convention, meaning that the direction is where the waves come from, measured clockwise from magnetic north.

The buoy came adrft this morning, the bungee has been severed.  A local vessel has kindly receovered the buoy and plans are underway to re-deploy it later today. The buoy was re-deployed at 15:00Z.

16/11/2009 The shore station suffered a major power cut during the storms yesterday and no data were received from the buoy from 05:30 15 Nov to 10:00 16 Nov.  The data will be recovered from the buoy during the next service visit.
