Brighton and Hove Council installed the met station on the cliffs in October 2011.

A pressure sensor tide gauge was first installed by Brighton Marina in July 2004 and decommissioned on 28 May 2016. 

A Valeport VRS20 Radar Level Gauge was installed inside the marina and became operational on 18 June 2018. It was last surveyed on 08 January 2019. 

 

15/08/2025 The tide gauge was reinstalled.
31/03/2025 There are maintenance works where the tide gauge is mounted and a scaffold is obstructing measurement. The estimated completion date for the works is 27th May - 13th June.
