Wave and tide data are measured using a Rosemount WaveRadar Rex, which was installed on 26 August 2005. 

The meteorological station was deployed on 17 November 2005. The original OMC meteorological instrumentation was swapped for a Vaisala WXT536 on 22 August 2017.

11/09/2022 Spurious data are being recorded. An investigation is underway.

08/07/2021 The site was recabled and the WaveRadar refurbished. The data was restored.

The data cable has been severly damaged and will need to be relaid. 

The REX has been removed for refurbishment while recabling works are taking place. 

An update will be provided at the earliest opportunity.

Due to the degradation of the lower deck of the pier, it was not possible to service the wave radar.

OMC met instrumentation replaced with a Vaisala WXT536. 

22/06/2017 The met station has stopped working. A new Vaisala met unit will be installed at the end of the summer.
04/01/2017 The thermometer on the met station is broken. A new one has been ordered.

01/05/2010 A fault has developed with the air temperature sensor and, possibly, the wind vane.  The faults are being investigated, but the recent service has not solved the problem and some of the instruments may require replacement.
28/04/2010 The Rex is being serviced (the spikes in the record result from the service procedures)
15/10/2009 WaveRex was serviced, an extensive amount of oxidation was found. A full clean will be done during the next visit.
23/02/2009 Data have been intermittently disrupted due to fluctuating power supply to the Pier.
16/01/2009 WaveRex service, telecommunications check and internet repair.

13/03/2008 No data recieved, no phone access.
08/11/2006 The wave processing software has been upgraded to correct the earlier problem. All wave data prior to 1300Z will be corrected and archived via the website's Data Catalogue.
01/08/2006 The wave processing software appears to be under-estimating the significant wave height slightly. This is under investigation.
