Wave and tide data are measured using a Rosemount WaveRadar Rex, located on Swanage Pier, by kind permission of the Pier owners. The Rex was installed on 7 March 2007.
The OMC meteorological station was installed together with the WaveRadar on 7 March 2007. On 16 July 2024 the meteorological station was overhauled and the original OMC sensors were replaced with a MaxiMet GMX600.
16/07/2024 | The met station was overhauled, a MaxiMet GMX600 was deployed, replacing the existing OMC met sensors. Scheduled service of the WaveRadar. |
16/04/2024 | Tide and wave processing software was updated to the latest version. |
29/03/2024 | The wind speed measurements are flatlining due to a fishing wire being caught in the instrument. The broken instrument will be replaced at the next scheduled service. The wind direction measurements and other parameters are unaffected. |

07/11/2022 | Connection has been lost to the met station. Update: The connection was restored on 09/11/2022. |

24/05/2022 | The WaveRadar was relevelled. No change in elevation was found following the works on the pier. |

12/03/2019 | A new 350m data cable for the WaveRadar was installed, while an also electrician installed a new power cable. The works were followed by a standard service of the WaveRadar. |
